Software Concepts International (SCI) has partnered with Stromasys, formerly Software Resources International (SRI), to provide a VAX virtualization product, CHARON-VAX, that allows you to preserve and extend the life of your existing VAX VMS applications.

The CHARON-VAX family of products are VAX replacement systems, running as a software application on industry standard systems, such as an HP ProLiant server. They present to the VAX operating system the exact copy of a VAX system, and will run unmodified VAX operating systems, layered software and applications. This makes conversion seamless and eliminates the need to implement new applications or re-educate employees. In fact, end users are unaware of the transition to the emulator except that their applications will run considerably faster!

SCI can install your VAX operating system (such as VAX/VMS, NetBSD or VAXELN), on the virtual VAX created by CHARON-VAX, directly from a system disk image from the original VAX or from the original distribution kit. The applications and LMF license keys can be copied in binary format via the network, tape, floppy disk or CD. Due to the fact that the VAX hardware is replaced and not the VAX operating system, all original software functionality is maintained.
